COURSES
The courses are run on a rolling 4-week project session. I set projects appropriate to your ability, starting at the beginning introducing you to all techniques, encouraging a very hands on approach, and allowing you to steadily gain confidence in your making ability.
Each session is for 2 hours with tea, coffee and chocolate biscuits provided!
There is a maximum of 4 students per session, so you will get lots of help and tuition. I always try and make each session enjoyable and fun, whilst giving instructions and advice. I like to work in a warm friendly environment so we all learn together!
Projects start with simple clay preparation, tile making and using textures and colours, to slab building, throwing, coiling, basic model and mould making, slip casting and glazing.
You will learn to finish all the work you make to a professional standard and be proud to take home to show others.
SESSIONS
The sessions currently running are:
Monday afternoon: 2:00pm-4:00pm
Monday evening: 6:00pm-8:00pm
Tuesday morning: 10:00am-12:00pm
Tuesday evening: 6:00pm-8:00pm
Wednesday morning: 10:00am-12:00pm
Wednesday afternoon: 2:00pm-4:00pm
Friday morning: 10:00am-12:00pm
One day courses are being planned, I will let you know when they are available.
COST
The cost for your 4-week session is £135.00 which includes all of your tuition and studio fees. This covers all the materials you use and the firing of your work in my kiln, affectionately known as Brenda!
You can pay in one of three ways; in advance by bank transfer, bring along a cheque made out to Carters Ceramic Designs, or cash. Whichever method best suits you. Thank you.
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED
I always ask new students to come along and see the studio to have an informal chat beforehand. It’s always a good idea to come when a session is running so you can also ask other students about their experiences in my pottery school.
